Summer in Miami has its own rhythm - long, vibrant, and full of possibility.

With most camps running from June 8 to August 7, families are planning earlier, mixing schedules, and navigating a city that offers so many strong options.

And that’s really the challenge.

Because in Miami, we’re fortunate to have some of the most well-established school camps - from Ransom Everglades and Miami Country Day to newer approaches from Centner Academy, KLA, Key Point Academy and Alpha School. The question is rarely “are there good camps?” It’s “which one is the right fit for my child this summer?”

Many school camps are open to the broader community (not just enrolled students), and options like early drop-off and aftercare are widely available - often at an additional cost.

But beyond logistics, summer is still something more:

It is an opportunity to explore interests, try new environments, and even discover future school fits. Here are a few categories which are trending:

Outdoor, Nature & Real-World Experiences

In a city surrounded by water and green spaces, outdoor experiences continue to lead.

Programs like Deering Estate and marine-based camps at Virginia Key offer hands-on environmental learning, while most schools and camps at preschools like Camp on the Key incorporate outdoor exploration into structured programs for younger children.

These camps offer a balance between structure and freedom - something many families are looking for.

Future-Focused Learning

Miami’s tech-forward energy is clearly showing up in summer programs.

Camps like Alpha are leading the way, integrating AI, critical thinking, and real-world problem-solving. Programs like Minds of Tomorrow introduce younger children to coding, robotics, and digital creativity in a playful but intentional way. These are not just enrichment programs - they reflect how learning is evolving.

Skill-Building & Academic Enrichment

More parents are looking for camps where kids walk away with something tangible.

Schools like Gulliver offer strong academic and enrichment tracks, while programs like Frost Science Camp combine hands-on exploration with meaningful learning in STEM and environmental science.

Creative, Innovative & Personalized Programs

We’re also seeing more camps that feel curated and intentional.

From creative tech programs like Minds of Tomorrow to more personalized environments like Fusion Academy blending academics, flexibility, and confidence-building in a smaller setting. Summer is becoming a time to grow with intention - not just fill time. These programs focus on smaller groups and thoughtful experiences tailored to each child. This is especially appealing for families looking for something beyond traditional, large-scale camps.

Flexibility for Modern Families

Flexibility continues to be key.

Many programs - including and community options - offer:• Weekly sessions• Half-day and full-day options• Early drop-off and aftercare

This makes it easier to build a summer that actually works for your family.

Looking Beyond Miami: Europe & Pre-College Experiences

One of the biggest trends this year - especially for teens - is looking beyond Miami.

More families are exploring pre-college programs and summer experiences in Europe, where students gain independence, cultural exposure, and a different perspective.

Programs like EU Business School in Spain offer structured international experiences that combine academics, business exposure, and life abroad.

For many families, it’s about finding the right balance between local and global experiences.

Confidence, Independence & Social Growth

Across Miami’s camps, kids are doing more than just staying busy — they’re building confidence, independence, and real connections.

From community programs like YMCA and Miami-Dade Parks, to immersive experiences like Guaikinima and hands-on camps like Moonlighter and Real Food Academy, kids are learning to collaborate, try new things, and step outside their comfort zone.

These are the skills that stay with them - long after summer ends.

Miami’s Culture & Community

What makes summer here unique is Miami itself.

Bilingual environments, diverse communities, and strong local connections show up across programs - from Key Biscayne to Pinecrest to Coral Gables.

Camps here don’t just offer activities, they reflect the city we live in.

Looking Ahead to Summer 2026

If there’s one thing I hear over and over from parents, it’s this:

“There are so many good options, it’s hard to choose.”

And that’s true.

  • That’s why this guide exists.

  • To help you narrow it down

  • To give you a clearer sense of what’s out there

  • And to help you think through what might actually be the right fit for your child

If you’re not sure where to start, I’m always happy to help you think it through.

Final Thought

We’re lucky to have Miami.

And even more so, we’re lucky to have so many ways for our kids to explore it, grow in it, and discover what they love.

That’s what summer should feel like.
